Social Events:
The Club hosts a number of social events throughout the year, including a Beetle Drive & Pie and Pea Suppers in Spring and Autumn. The annual Prize Presentation and Buffet is held in November.

CLUB PRIZE PRESENTATION AND BUFFET 2019 PRIZE WINNERS

Alex Broadhead

Whilst studying away at York University for most of the year Alex still managed to ride Club Events and this year has achieved 2nd. place and 1st. Handicap in the Club 10 in 23m32s, 1st. Handicap in the Mid Summer 25 in 1h02m34s and 2nd. place in the Hill Climb in 3m25s

Martin Broadhead

Initially coming from a running background and now enjoying riding mostly out in the hills Martin can still put in some good times on the flatter roads and this year finished in 2nd. place in the Early 25 in 1h00m09s, a Personal Best and coming close to beating the 'Hour'.

Rob Cooke

One of the Clubs fastest and strongest riders Rob made a return to race for the Club after a years absence and achieved 3rd. place in the Mid Summer 25 in 58m39s, 2nd. place in the Club 50 in 2h04m40s and 1st. in the hotly contested 'Freewheel Championship'.

Richard Dean

After joining the Club this year Richard immediately took over as the Clubs fastest rider at any distance he chose to ride breaking Club Records at 25 miles with  51m27s and at 10 miles in 20m11s. His tally for this year amounts to 1st. place and 2nd. Handicap in the Mid Summer 25 in 53m12s, 1st. place and 1st. Handicap in the Club 50 in 1h49m44s, 1st. place in the Club 10 in 20m23s, 1st. place in the Club Hill Climb in 3m11s and the Fastest 25 in 51m27s, a new Club Record.

Simon Laycock

In November 2018 Simon did an 'Everesting', 37 hill repeats that came to a total elevation gain of 30,371ft. covering 226 miles. Everest is 29,030ft but he did one extra hill repeat to make sure he achieved his goal.

in April this year he rode the Coast to Coast and back in a day. Scarborough to Morecambe Bay and back, a total elevation gain of 19,045ft. and 266 miles.

In May he climbed Mont Ventoux.

In July he completed the Tour du Mont Blanc, starting in France riding clockwise around the base of Mont Blanc via Switzerland and Italy then back to France. Climbing the Col Des Montets, Col de la Forclaz, Grand and Petit St. Bernard, Cormet De Roseland and Col de Saisies. A total of 26,923ft. of elevation and 204 miles. There were 750 entrants' 250 did not finish.

Three days later he rode the Colle del Nivolet in Italy.

In September he rode 7 Cols over 2,000m in 6 days. Including the Cime De La Bonette which is the highest route in the Alps.

In October he finished 3rd. in the Club Hill Climb in 3m30s.

For his outstanding achievement of many long distance rides and Sportive Events Simon is awarded the 'Ticker Mullins' Merit Trophy.

Anthony McNamara

He hasn't raced much this year due to family commitments but still managed 3rd. place in the Early 25 in 1h02m16s.

Kate Naylor

One of the Clubs three Lady Racing Members Kate returned to racing this year and finished 2nd. Lady in the Early 25 in 1h16m20s, 2nd. Lady and 2nd. equal Handicap in the Club 10 in 29m29s.

Chloe Selman

Our youngest Lady Racing Member and Para-cyclist Chloe was 1st. Lady in the Club 10 in 29m01s.

Neil Trench

A regular Club Runner Neil wins 2nd. equal Handicap in the Club 10 in 24m55s.

Andy Whitehead

Prior to a busy year supporting  his wife Ala our Club Secretary won the Early 25 in 56m38s and finished 1st. on Handicap, he was 3rd. in the Club 50 in 2h10m59s and 3rd. in the Club 10 in 24m06s.

Ala Whitehead

After a full season of racing Ala has finished 2nd. in the Yorkshire Cycling Federation Points Series, 4th. in the Yorkshire Spoco Series and 8th. in the Yorkshire Ladies Best All Rounder and competed in her 1st. 100 mile Time Trial. In the Club Events she continued to rock up her tally and achieve 1st. Lady in the Early 25 in 1h15m41s, 1st. Lady in the Mid Summer 25 in 1h25m11s, 1st.Lady in the Club 50 in 3h03m52s, 1st. Lady in the Club 100 in 5h57m00s, 3rd. Lady in the Club 10 in 30m16s, 1st. Lady in the Club Hill Climb in 6m16s and lastly the Ladies Best All Rounder with 17.446 m.p.h.
